Client Brief

Our client approached us with the goal of transforming the ground floor of their South London home. The vision was to expand the space through a rear extension while introducing a refined, high-end interior that would accommodate a new kitchen, dining, and reception area. Priorities included maximizing natural light, creating functional zones, and achieving a timeless yet contemporary design aesthetic.

Challenge

The primary challenge was to transform a traditionally segmented ground floor into a cohesive, multifunctional space that felt open yet purposeful. We needed to design an extension that would not only accommodate a new kitchen and dining area but also integrate seamlessly with the existing reception space. Achieving this balance required a thoughtful approach to spatial flow, natural light, and structural layout. Additionally, the client expected a high-end finish, which meant every detail—from material selection to bespoke joinery—had to meet the highest standards of design and craftsmanship.

Solution

We designed a seamless rear extension that opened up the ground floor to create a unified space encompassing the kitchen, dining, and reception areas. To optimize functionality, the kitchen was positioned centrally, acting as the anchor of the open layout. The dining table was placed in the extension area, surrounded by large glazing to flood the interior with natural light and connect the indoors with the garden.

Our interior design concept focused on timeless style and refined elegance, using a neutral, calming palette and high-quality materials throughout. Bespoke joinery solutions were developed in collaboration with top joinery companies to ensure seamless integration, enhanced storage, and a polished finish.

Outcome

The completed project dramatically redefined the ground floor. The new layout feels open, elegant, and highly functional—perfect for both daily living and entertaining.
